GATE Previous Year Old Question Papers (Free Download)

This article allows you to have a look at GATE  Previous Year Old Question Papers of Mechanical Engineering which can be freely downloadable here and can be useful for the next GATE 2024 exam.  I want to thank the gate forum and education observer for getting free question papers related to previous GATE exams.

  • You can get higher marks by doing smart preparation which starts from solving previous GATE exam question papers. You can even start preparation from any year of graduation, first, second, pre-final or final year

  • Download the papers, look for the new GATE 2024 syllabus contents, and write down the topic name only in one separate note for each subject.

Now take each subject and prepare each one by one. Pay attention to those topics that are not familiar to you and leave those topics that you already know So you can save your precious time while doing GATE 2024 preparation effectively. Once you get all the papers and classifications of each topic as per the subject, you can see the percentage weightage of that subject in GATE Mechanical. Thus, you need to do some research to get into which is the most important subject or topic for GATE mechanical engineering.

    GATE 2024 exam preparation tips

Are you looking for how to prepare for the GATE 2024 examination? You must follow and apply the common experience of your seniors and teachers to get an idea about what should and what should not prepare for GATE.

Normally students believe that if they attempt all the questions, they might get a maximum score but they should keep in mind that the GATE exam keeps negative marking for each wrong answer and deducts about 33.33 % of the total marks allotted to that question to which you gave the wrong answer. Follow the GATE tips and get a good score.

What is the meaning of Valid GATE Score and GATE percentile?

Normally every GATE-qualified student who wishes to give GATE exam, asks these types of questions, "What is the meaning of a Valid GATE Score and GATE percentile? ".

    (1) What is the meaning of a Valid GATE Score?

There are a few confusing matters about the GATE score and the Valid GATE score. Normally GATE score is valid for two years. Suppose you have given GATE in 2014, your GATE score (qualified) is valid for the year 2014 and 2015 admission or job.

Now, still, a question, what is a Valid GATE score?

If you have obtained/secured marks equal to or greater than the qualifying marks of that year's GATE exam, you are said to have a valid GATE score and you are eligible to apply for a job or admission into masters for the year 2014 as well as that of the year 2015.

For, GATE 2014, Mechanical Engineering, qualifying marks were 28.86 for the General category. So, in order to be a valid GATE score holder, you should have at least 28.86 marks or greater than that (if you are a General category candidate).  If you secured, less than 28.86 marks in ME for the year GATE 2014, you are not qualified for a Valid GATE scorecard. GATE scorecard is valid only if you have at least secured qualifying marks for that year (Normally organizing institute does not send scores to a card that does not qualify!).

Free GATE 2024 study material related to applied mechanics and design

As GATE 2014 syllabus contains the following major subjects which are classified into four groups.
    1. Engineering Mathematics
    2. Applied Mechanics and Design
    3. Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Science
    4. Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering
Click on each name of the subject and download the appropriate ebook to get the study material. Print each book having the same content which is given in the GATE Mechanical Engineering syllabus. There is no need to print the complete book but part of it which is common in the GATE syllabus of appropriate part.
